What is Be Right Back?
BRB began as an idea to bring women in the automotive industry together.
Inspired by other events taking place in the UK, who cultivated communities around a shared passion, and gave it depth through experience, I wondered if the same would apply to the automotive scene.
Having worked in this industry for a decade now, I continued to struggle with really connecting to other women. Men? They’re easy - superficial conversations are generally more than enough to get you by, but it can get a bit lonely.
I got bored of the surface level “hello’s” that never turned into anything deeper, because it just felt a bit vacuous. But as someone who doesn’t fit many moulds, how do I find other women who just want to do some cool shit with?
I’m sure for many people the prosecco evenings, and networking events are great, but they don’t really do that much for me — in the same way that I’m not a ‘walk around the field looking at static cars’ kind of woman.
So, maybe - just maybe, planning some cool activities and pushing it out into the ether, I might find some other ladies who fancied doing the same things as me. Then we could meet over an experience and the networking comes secondary.
I piloted the concept with a hand-picked group of women I knew well enough to ask, from drivers to photographers, and questioned them on the concept, whether it was something that would interest them, and what kind of things they’d be interested in doing. It was worthwhile.
Some of them have never come to a BRB event since. I guess it wasn’t actually for them - and one of the tough things to get your head around, is not taking things like that personally.. Others have played pivotal roles in big events, shown up regularly at the small ones, or even just engage and share things on social media.
Being part of a community comes in all shapes and sizes, not a single requirement of just spending money to do all the things.
Ultimately, these days BRB is a space to try things scared, meet other interesting women doing very cool things in life, and maybe find your people!
What started as an industry thing very quickly grew bigger than that - You don’t need to LOVE cars and know everything about them. For some, having a car that let’s them go camping, or surfing, or takes them across Europe, is what makes it special, and they’re not even in the industry at all. For others, they build them to race or for restoration projects.
However your love of cars comes across ALL women are welcome here.
From monthly drop-in socials to just come and hang out, to more formal events like weekend adventures, go-karting, factory tours or our epic Morocco off-road experience, I very much hope there is something for everyone to come and get involved with. At the very least, we have a WhatsApp community with 150 women in it, that you can join and be a part of.
What are you waiting for?

ps - did I say "cool" enough times?
